Back in 1983  Mr. Leslie Shifrin from New York started a Shifrin Research Inc. company.

Founded in 1983, Shifrin Research is one of the largest custom survey firms in the U.S. We are a full service market research firm. We provide: strategic consultation, research design expertise, research implementation and control, analytic expertise with marketing-oriented implications.

Shifrin Research registered shifrin.com domain in 2000 and used it as it’s main website right up to February 15, 2005 when the company was acquired by Ipsos.

The purchase of Shifrin Research Inc. is part of the Ipsos niche acquisition strategy …. The new company will be known as Ipsos Shifrin and will continue to be based in Manhattan

The name “Ipsos Shifrin” survived for about year and somewhere in 2006 company changed it’s name back to Ipsos.

Ipsos paid for 10 years of shifrin.com domain registration at February 19, 2007. 10 years later they decided not to renew it.  Then it is was in the “redemption” phase,  “pending delete” phase, dropped and picked up by one of the domain catching services. Finally, after a short fight with cyber-squatters, it was acquired by me.

I got 37 offers between February 19, 2007 and May 1, 2017 from cyber-squatters who were tying to sell me the domain for the price between  $500 and $3500.

So now my collection of Shifrin branded domains is almost complete (.net is still missing):
